In 1997, New York ‘s Chelsea neighborhood was still rough around the edges, its side streets filled with small storefronts and light manufacturing.  But it had a certain charm, and seemed the right setting to open our little antiques shop.
During our many trips to France, we had assembled a collection of French furniture to fill our new space, but then we couldn’t come up with a name!  Our address was 145 West 22nd Street…and so 145 Antiques just stuck.
In the seven years that followed, we built a solid, reputable business.  Our well-edited mix of furniture and lighting, predominantly French, focused on the late 19th century and the 1940s. But then in 2004, we were given notice that the building was to be demolished to make way for a new, all-glass apartment building. The gentrification of Chelsea had indeed reached our doorsteps.

In truth, we had outgrown the shop, but we liked the neighborhood, and so began our quest for a larger space. We soon moved into our new location on West 20th Street, just off Fifth Avenue.  In typical New York fashion, our new home had gone through several incarnations: restaurant, nightclub, photo lab!  But we recognized the good “bones” of the cavernous space; we signed the lease and began the renovation.
Since then, 145 Antiques has continued to refine its range of high quality furniture, lighting and decorative objects.  The growth and acceptance of e-commerce has expanded our customer base.  However, the core of our business is still built on trust, confidence and service.  We strive to offer our discerning clientele a distinctive selection at reasonable prices.   Whether your goal is to find that one special piece or furnish entire rooms, we hope that we can share our vision with you.
